A consortium of funders and nonprofit organizations that teach science have come together to bring a new model of science education to the Mountain View Whisman School District. With the Science by Nature website, teachers can enroll students in programs offering integrated science curriculum for both in-class lessons and field trips. Two of Frieda C. Fox Family Foundation grant recipients, Environmental Volunteers and Youth Science Institute, provide critical science programs and experiences to students. Environmental Volunteers and the Science by Nature consortium is featured in Story #4, "Better Together".

This successful collaborative model brings nonprofit environmental and science education service providers together, delivering coordinated classroom and outdoor education for students, and professional development for their teachers. A second site for Science By Nature has launched in Los Angeles, under a challenge grant by the foundation, where four nonprofits serve students at the Carson-Gore school and the Magnolia Place Family Center.
