Do I need years of experience in grantmaking? Do I need to be an expert philanthropist? Do I need to have gone to any YPC events before?

None of the above! YPC welcomes everyone from beginners to experienced philanthropists, from grantmakers as young as 8 years old to the adults that support them! We have content specially crafted for each of you!

Will there be other youth like me?

Youth philanthropists (and the adults who support them) are engaged with giving as a family, through a family foundation, with a junior board, as a part of a nonprofit, and even through community foundations.  We have diversity of models and youth and adults from age 8 to grandparents!

How long are most sessions?

Most sessions last an hour!  We have a separate track of content for youth ages 8-12 (which we call early explorers), youth ages 12+ new to philanthropy, youth ages 12+ with experience in philanthropy, and adults!

Can I attend youth sessions as an adult?

Yes, you can!  We ask adults be in listen only mode.  We do have amazing content just for adults too— so don’t miss out on the fun!

Are conference sessions actually in the park?  What is the balance of fun and learning?

Our sessions are actually inside the Grand Californian Hotel’s Conference Center. Having a conference at Disneyland Resort® can be a lot fun. During the day, we will have sessions and lots of in-depth learning– which we make fun too.  We will have some Mickey-shaped snacks and a special breakfast the last day with Mickey Mouse, as well as an opportunity to see to the World of Color show (no tickets required).  We will also have more than twenty concurrent sessions, 3 plenaries including a keynote speaker, a service project, and the YPC Giving Circle (where we decide grants together)!  And, there is time to explore on your own the first evening, when we end early (You will need a ticket if you want to visit the park on your own).

So, can I wear my favorite character costume during the conference?

We encourage wearing your favorite Minnie or Mickey ears, etc. Disney does have some new rules about ages 14+ wearing full costumes into the park, so please ask or consult the park website for entering the park. And, you will also get a conference t-shirt to wear too.

What are the attendee policies?

By registering for a YPC event, you have agreed to the attendee guidelines.   Substitutions are accepted at any time. Cancellations before May 1 are subject to a $75 processing fee. Cancellations received between May 14 and June 1 will receive a 50% refund. Cancellations on or after June 1 are non-refundable.
